Publicis In The West Takes 2009 ADDY® Awards Best of ShowPublicis In the West was announced the winner of the coveted ADDY® Awards Best of Show at the annual ADDY Awards Show at the 2009 AAF National Conference in Washington, DC. The Gold and Silver ADDY Award winners were also announced. Publicis In the West was awarded Best of Show for their television spot "Birds" for the Washington Lottery. The Student ADDY Best of Show was awarded to David Styler from Art Center College of Design for his piece entitled "Coin Wrappers." A Special Judges Award was presented to Austin-based McGarrah Jessee for overall branding for client Spoetzl Brewery. Other top award winners included BBDO-New York with seven Gold ADDYs and 10 Silvers, Arnold with two Gold and nine Silvers and DDB Chicago with seven Gold and two Silver ADDYs. With more than 50,000 entries annually, the ADDY Awards are the world's largest advertising competition and arguably one of the toughest with three tiers of competition. The ADDY Awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types, creative by all sizes and entrants of all levels from anywhere in the United States. It is the only creative awards program administered by the advertising industry for the industry. This year, out of the nearly 1600 entries judged in the national competition, a total of 330 ADDY Awards were presented, including 100 Gold and 175 Silver for professional entries and 26 Gold and 29 Silvers for student entries. The winners in both the Professional and Student ADDY categories were celebrated during the ADDY Awards Gala with Master of Cermonies Bob Garfield.
